Flutter Entertainment, which owns Paddy Power bookmakers and online gambling site Betfair, has also issued a coronavirus warning this morning. Flutter estimates that the surge of sports cancellations in recent days will hurt its profits badly. If current restrictions remain in place until the end of August then Flutter’s profits would be cut by up to £110 this year.
When you close all the restaurants, bars, movie theaters, etc. under the guise of “social distancing” and “self quarantine” due to what amounts to nothing more or less than common cold symptoms, then you can expect the economy to tank. 🙄
