Cruise ships won't be hitting the high seas again anytime soon.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention extended a"no sail order" Thursday that it imposed last month to help quell the spread of theWhile the March 14 order was intended as a voluntary measure to stay in place for 30 days, the new one could last longer.

Until then, the about 100 cruise ships in the Atlantic, Pacific or Gulf of Mexico must remain idle, either in port or wallowing at anchor,“The measures we are taking today to stop the spread of COVID-19 are necessary to protect Americans, and we will continue to provide critical public health guidance to the industry to limit the impacts of COVID-19," said CDC Director Robert Redfield in a statement.

On some of the vessels, passengers or crew members died either on the ship or after being moved ashore to hospitals.

Most of the financial help needs to go to small and mid sized business. Cruise and air lines are not in that group.

Excellent news!

Good ! They should have stopped over a month ago !

Who the hell would want to get on one of these floating incubators in 2020?!

Thank God for small favors!

Convert them to mobile hospitals.

I thought this may have come earlier.. But until the 🇨🇳🦠 is conquered, it’s a tremendous step toward the spreading of the as yet uncontrolled 🌍 wide pandemic crisis‼️

I'm sure it's going to take them a long time before they are able to get their moorings back

What a pity!

Good, its a vile, polluting industry that will hopefully not recover from the pandemic

Woah! Talk about loss revenue!

CDC extends no-sail order for cruise ships in new directive slamming industryCruise lines have already extended their suspensions beyond an original 30-day pause. But the CDC just renewed an order that will likely keep ships from sailing for much longer. Perhaps the end of the cruise industry as we know it for years. Going to need to find something else to do with those ships for a long time As of today the Governors of 8 Republican States are still treating the coronvirus as a hoax. Are they also going to blame the WHO and China for “not warning “ them when their citizens start dying? What a joke. It's about time. There are a lot of stupid people. Thank you CDC
