APPEA CEO Andrew McConville says the government’s investment in low emissions technology would go a long way to helping Australia move more rapidly to meeting its Paris climate change emissions reductions target.

His comments come regarding the federal government’s intention to broaden the remit of key energy investment agencies by focusing on low emissions technology and shifting from funding solely wind and solar projects. “For our industry, the oil and gas industry, we see we have a really important role to play, adopting technology to help reduce emissions and coming in alongside and complimenting renewables," Mr McConville said. "So it’s good news.
