Workers at companies including Whole Foods and Whataburger are taking legal action in fight over employees' right to wear Black Lives Matter masks

have faced backlash after workers said they were fired after wearing Black Lives Matter masks on the job. Kroger and Whole Foods employees have taken legal action against their employers, arguing the enforcement of bans on BLM gear violated their rights. that Congious planned to file a racial-discrimination suit against Whataburger. According to Smith, Congious is required to file a complaint with Texas' workforce commission 180 days before filing a lawsuit against the burger chain.

"It's not a white thing, it's not a Black thing — it's a people thing," Sam Dancy, a union shop steward who works at a QFC in Seattle,Dancy's reasoning echoes that of Savannah Kinzer, a Whole Foods employee who was sent home from work for wearing a BLM mask at a store in Cambridge, Massachusetts this summer. "It's human rights. It is a simple, simple statement: Black lives matter, that's it. They matter.

Whole Food's dress code policy similarly bars employees from wearing clothing with visible slogans, messages, logos, or advertising that are not company-related. A representative told Business Insider that "no Team Members have been terminated for wearing Black Lives Matter face masks or apparel." The grocery chain declined to comment on pending litigation.

If you allow one political message, you have to allow others. If you don't want people wearing American Flag or MAGA masks, then you shouldn't allow the Marxist Movement's message either.

You don’t have a right to do what you want within a private business. Get a fn clue what a “right” is.

Where do they get that it is their right to wear whatever they want for 'at will' employment, who has policy that message attire 'violate corporate dress codes'. How dare they attempt to claim racial discrimination. NOT AT ALL an act of 'GOOD TROUBLE'

Imagine companies wanting to be apolitical so as to have the largest potential customer base possible so as to maximize potential profits. Almost sounds like a logical plan.

You provide labor in exchange for money, you don’t own the company and the company dictates what you can and can’t wear. If you don’t like that, you can go find work somewhere else. We can’t tell people/ employers what or who to support, that’s their freedom.
