Energy Minister Angus Taylor says efforts to boost Australia's diesel stocks by 40 per cent will safeguard communities during natural disasters.

"And diesel generates electricity in many remote and Indigenous communities around Australia. It is vital for the distribution of food and medicine and underpins major export sectors like mining and agriculture."

Mr Taylor has called for domestic storage proposals from Australia's fuel industry to boost reserves by 7 million to 15 million barrels and bring the country closer to its obligations. As an IEA member, Australia is supposed to maintain a 90-day supply of fuel but has not complied with the requirement in recent years.

"Over the last seven years of this government our local refining capacity in Australia has plummeted by 40 per cent – smashing Australia’s fuel security," Labor energy spokesman Mark Butler said last month. "We have already commenced work with the refining sector and the broader fuel industry on the design and implementation of this package."to access the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve amid growing concern about the reliability of the global oil supply.

Old News! Think of something else if it is at all possible.

Grifters and leaners.

Utter bs. And what bs photo is this crap? We want our reserves IN OUR COUNTRY. NRMA has called for this for over 20 years now because we haven’t had our reserves at the quota since the end of WWII. Pathetic story.

To be stored in Reykjavik.

There's got to be money in it somewhere for Mr. Taylor; it's all that motivates him.

From a discarded bottle to asphalt: Recycling industry welcomes Budget boost but wants more to drive demandHave you ever thought about what happens to a glass bottle you chuck in the recycling bin? It could end up in the road you drive on. The Government's hoping $250 million in Budget funding will boost the 'circular economy' for Australia's waste. Can 'building material' be produced from the product., Can it be formed or moulded into Wall paneling or flooring etc.?, Just wondering if it could help in some way with building of 'Community Housing', etc. Not so much concerned about glass bottles and what to do with them as I am about the plastic bottles and council bin that we pay for so they can be picked up and packaged for transport to landfill, all the while being told they are being recycled. Corruption is at all govt levels
