"I was sitting with a group of fire chiefs, and one of them actually said out loud 'if only we had Waze but designed for us," Farren told Business Insider.

Perimeter's product is a live map that first responders can update with real-time information like how far fires have spread, evacuation information, and tasks. Farren's plan is to start by selling to local fire departments and then expand to local counties, each of which will pay for Perimeter according to their abilities. She acknowledges that selling to government agencies can be a long and difficult process, but believes that her first few contracts will make subsequent ones easier. Already she's entered into a partnership with thePerimeter's potential customers are 30,000 public safety agencies across 3,141 counties.
