Cocklebiddy Roadhouse manager Troy Pike says Western Australia’s closed border to New South Wales and Victoria has been “very economically hard” for his company, causing one of his roadhouses to lose 90 per cent of its business.

“We’ve lost, at one roadhouse, probably 90 per cent, and at the other two roadhouses probably 20 per cent,” Mr Pike told Sky News.

Mr Pike said for businesses affected by the border closure, it would be “nice to have a national taskforce” to deal with hotspots as they arise. He added it was uncertain Premier Mark McGowan “even understands we’re around”. “I don’t see any reason why it can’t be opened," he said. “I think it should be a national thing and the whole of Australia should open up and we should just get on with life.

So where should the damage lay. The roadhouse did not cause the covid. With reasonable strictures it may not have affected them at all. Public servants on full time wages made calls that sent people broke without affecting their own wealth. So where do the damages lay?
