Speaking on RTÉ Radio One’s Morning Ireland, Matt McGranaghan of the MEAI said that “we need to be responsible about a reopening plan and reopening strategy”. This week, 4,945 people who worked in arts, entertainment and recreation are receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment. “Up to 30% of workers in this industry who are on PUP will become unemployed and two months later, we’re anticipating a further 20%, so up to 50% of the workforce in this industry on PUP will be de facto unemployed in the next few months,” McGranaghan said.

500 people in pods at Pearse Stadium shows how pathetic this situation is. The rest of Europe must find us hilarious.

Music industry calls on Govt to set date for reopeningThe Music and Entertainment Association of Ireland has called for the Government to commit to a date for the reopening of the live music sector. You can’t though, can you? I mean… live music will reopen when cases drop and attending a live music event won’t lead to a massive outbreak of covid-19. It’s been a year and a half, people. We know this by now. Probably 2036 with 50% of capacity. Tony says we are not there yet An industry complaining about being discriminated against wants to open and promises they will also discriminate others if allowed open. How ironic
