The trial of former spokesperson for the uMkhonto wesizwe Military Veterans Association, Carl Niehaus, in connection with an alleged violation of COVID-19 regulations, is due to start in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.This was after former President Jacob Zuma was incarcerated at the Estcourt prison to serve a 15-month jail term for contempt of court.
After his arrest, Niehaus was asked to pay a fine but refused and opted that his case be tried in court.Last year, the African National Congress dismissed Niehaus from the party.
