The new chair of one of the UK’s most influential business groups has accused Britain’s biggest companies of lying when they say they cannot find enough female or ethnic minority directors.

Picture not all gloomy. On latest publicapptscomm figures 48 per cent of non-executive appointments to boards of public bodies go to women. Still long way to go on female chairs, though rising percentage.

For practically every job position there are literally hundreds of disappointed applicants? It's about being the right person for the job, and just because 'you' don't get it, doesn't mean it was because you were [SELECT ARBITRARY CHARACTERISTIC]

Think it's a great disservice to the selected candidates, to have the stigma of tokenism. They may be talented, but when companies are forced to hire to meet quotas, then that's a pity.
