Private security company to sweep crime-ridden encampments along Tacoma corridor

Security officers with Blue Falcon Tactical Solutions prepare for a sweep of the S Hosmer St corridor in Tacoma after businesses complained of ongoing crime concerns.

A private security company plans to sweep the S Hosmer Street corridor in Tacoma on Thursday following ongoing complaints from surrounding businesses about gun violence, prostitution, assaults, and drug dealing outside their shops and stores. Tema Woods, the owner of Blue Falcon Tactical Solutions, is leading a team through all the private lots from S 84th St to S 96th St along S Hosmer and Steele St S, clearing away any encampments or people who are loitering outside businesses in the area.

Woods said he has coordinated with drug treatment centers and outreach services in the past several months to have resources available to the people who he will be clearing. Many of the businesses that hire the security team struggle to get customers into their shops because people are too afraid of the crime that takes place right outside.
