If the deal goes ahead, Penn National could help Barstool accelerate existing efforts to make sports betting a main reason new audiences turn to the site.

Barstool has already been chasing after the sports betting community, a logical move given that about 60% of its audience are sports bettors, In addition to producing a gambling-focused show, it launched a site and mobile app last September called Barstool Bets, which features sports-betting content and free games in which users can place bets and win prizes, including cash.
