NCC advocates financial inclusion with banking industry, others

Danbatta at the NCC Head Office while receiving a team from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Foundation’s Consultants, Glenbrooks Partners said the commission’s aim was to identify gaps in telecoms industry, and also advocate for the expansion and centrality of telecommunication to all aspects of the economy

The EVC while advocating for the cooperation of telecoms and banking industry identified the cause of the problem from the inadequacy of both wireless and fiber connectivity infrastructure. He revealed that the Central Bank of Nigeria has issued the Mobile Money Payment Services licence to some mobile network operators to enable them to undertake mobile financial transaction services, hence enable more Nigerians to embrace the digital financial culture.

Danbatta therefore advocated renewed greater cooperation and collaboration between the banking and telecommunications sectors to harmonise the cost of transactions for financial services in an equitable manner,” Danbatta added.
