The Austin company Everlywell will begin offering a home testing kit for COVID-19 to help close the shortage of testing methods during the coronavirus outbreak. 30,000 of the tests will be available starting Monday, the company said.

The FDA announced last month that it would consider emergency use authorization for proposals involving diagnostic devices for the coronavirus. A similar policy was adopted in 2016 in relation to the Zika virus, according to the agency’s website.

Cheek said the company’s ability to respond to the outbreak has been an affirmation of its goal of providing affordable, convenient access to lab testing.

Badly reported. The tests are unauthorized by FDA. The companies are buying up scarce supplies and profiteering.

The company has not shared any proof that its kits work and it's not FDA reviewed or approved. It's not clear what you get for $135 but it's clear what everly_well gets: your blood, data, $135, attention. interview pathologists & MDs! covid19 home test coronavirus

In a time of need, why not get greedy and charge $135 for a test kit. Price gouging like the hand sanitizer guy.

is that for all of USA-Americans? What cost will that bring to the poorest in America, The Homeless, and the Disabled/ Elderly who can't afford whatever cost EverlyWell puts on it?

$135 per test. Cool
