Spain is about to bring in a basic income scheme which the government thinks will 'stay forever'

The Spanish government will next week approve a basic income programme which will provide a guaranteed income for poorer Spaniards.

Up to 1 million families will receive the new benefit, which is expected to cost Spain between 3 billion and 3.5 billion euros annually. Spain's social security minister Jose Luis Escriva said on Monday that ministers would approve the programme during a weekly cabinet meeting on May 26,Escriva said up to 1 million families would receive the new benefit, which is expected to cost between 3 billion and 3.5 billion euros annually.

And forever be in debt. Upside down already for having cooked the books and got caught doing so. What else do they have to lose. Ask the central banks for more money.

Not really basic income unless everyone gets it. Sounds more like a standard welfare program.

Spain can’t print it’s own money. How’s this gonna work?
