Trudeau seeking legacy by reshaping Canada. Maybe try putting together a $100B post-pandemic stimulus package to fix the failing Canadian healthcare system. Give the provinces the money they need for the next 5 years instead of massively subsidizing green technologies.
The bleak reality of the federal government's financial situation played a role here. Hopefully he can instill some sanity in the government's spending habits going forward.
