Tech flight: Why Silicon Valley is heading to Miami and Austin, Texas.

in numerous American cities, including Miami and Austin — still must pay the same taxes regardless of where they are based.

“Even though a lot of companies are saying they can let people work from anywhere, most are saying we’re not going to cut salary, but we’re going to slow the rate of increase of salary,” said Brian Kropp, an analyst with the IT service management company Gartner. “The compounding effect translates to a 3 or 5 percent margin that moves straight to profit,” Kropp said.

“I think that Oracle is thinking, ‘Look, we can go to Austin and what we get is an agglomeration because we need to have this talent,’” he said, underscoring that Oracle would not need to disrupt its existing workforce in California or anywhere else.

Let 'em go. Hope Austin and Miami like what the SV folks do to property values.

Repeat after me LOWER TAXES lets say that again children low er tax es good job children.

You’re really thinking of leaving California and going to the state like Texas or Florida have you lost your mind I live in the south believie me you do not want to do that

No state taxes, lower taxes overall, and cheaper labor. This what happens when the minimum wage is not high enough to survive and workers are being taken advantage by multinational corporations.

Because California sucks? Source: am Californian

The only problem is, for example, compared to California, Austin sucks...the no income tax thing seems nice until you find out how outrageous the property taxes are...

Cuban immigrant labour ?

Omg don’t believe this guy .... Miami is full up!!! You can’t have more people in there. You definitely will need to learn Spanish. And the list goes on (former Miami aka Northern Cuba resident).

In other words; I want to keep my profits as high as they have been by using the cheapest labor, illegal labor ( if I must), low education, unfit for other employment for any reason, just so long as my pockets are stuffed as always...BTW...benefits that don't exist now...won't!

Because California sucks

Hotter than hell in the summer!

I wonder, will Republicans still hate big tech when it’s paying their bills?

What you gave that will regrow back more than a million more times I will share you the biggest decision I can make for you allways have. Use your money for good this time. Make me proud to know you.

Because Republican run States kick ass! They pretend to like Democrat politics but there sure love Republican economics!

Government handouts, politicians that are bought by big business, and underpaid employees that have no protections are corporate aphrodisiacs. Texans suffer but our government officials don't care

Doesn't sound like them at all.

One - Destroy Real-Estate market price for locals in Austin. Two - Have template waters beach-front homes where you can actually swim in them.

Cali is a failed socialist state and companies don’t want to pay for those policies. The problem is they will destroy where ever they move

Enjoy those rising sea levels and massive hurricane seasons.

Because those are Republican states. People follow freedom. The Left just destroys. It’s science.

Why would I support companies that moved out of state to pay its workers less? That's a pretty pathetic move.

LOUISAGUIRRE Let me help you with all your relocation needs:

Good said the Bay Area who wants their communities back. Go destroy housing in other cities.

We can't afford housing in Miami as is, let's see what happens! Our house burned down during Hurricane Irma & we haven't been able to buy another one with that the insurance paid, we'll have to move out of Miami after living here all my life. Elderly & disabled pushed out!

If slavery still existed, these companies would move to the slave states to boost profits. Anything to avoid paying people decent wages. Disgusting. If I were these other cities, I would be embarrassed.

Pro tip - If you move to Miami you better be able to speak, write, and read Spanish

Miami? Isn't that going to be underwater in the next 20 years?

Taxes?

Called corporate greed: article stated: “long-term play to help them pay workers relatively less where the cost of living is lower.”

Hope they speak Spanish if coming to Miami

Which means quality will falter as well as job satisfaction.

Because CA is a dump.

Red State Race to the Bottom

Oh he'll no. Don't Commiefornia our Florida and Texas.
