Agriculture Secretary William Dar assures that the country has enough food supply and the potential 400,000 MT shortfall in pork supply this year will be addressed through importation.

The Department of Agriculture has launched ₱29-billion twin program that aims to revive the local industry adversely affected by the African Swine Fever.

For BABay ASF, a local government unit-led program to curb the spread of ASF, will have an initial allocation of ₱1.5 billion. To encourage backyard and semi-commercial raisers in virus-free areas, the Agricultural Credit Policy Council will offer a ₱500-million loan program, without interest, payable in three to five years.

The DA reported that as of Feb. 12, a total of 3,748 live hogs were already shipped from different regions of the country to the capital region to stabilize supply and price. Biggest contributors were Western Visayas and Central Luzon .

Importation is the easy way out. They should help hog raisers production instead.

Mr. Import Dar

Kulang bigas, import. Kulang karne, import. Kulang ng workers sa construction, import Chinese workers. Paano kukuha ng pera pambayad? Mangutang sa labas. Saan kukuha ng pambayad? Mag import ng investors?
