The acquisition of GreenSync aids Intelilhub’s expansion into behind-the-meter services.

Intellihub has acquired grid management company GreenSync as part of a move by the Brookfield Asset Management-backed smart meter provider to better manage electricity demand “behind the meter” as intermittent wind and solar power expands at the expense of fossil fuels.

In a deal that will help it compete against bigger rivals such as Ausgrid’s Plus ES business and New Zealand’s Vector, Intellihub said it had acquired GreenSync and incorporated its software platform into its smart meter offering as a package“The GreenSync product, in particular their deX platform, provides a much better and [more] efficient registration and co-ordination behind the meter in the home,” Itellihub chief executive Wes Ballantine told“We strongly believe that Intelilhub and...

Mr Ballantine said the company was installing about 50 per cent of all smart meters across the country, and expected this to grow in the coming months to about 2000 installations a day.Australia has seen a rapid rise in renewable energy generation – led strongly by rooftop solar – while traditional power generation from the likes of coal is rapidly declining.
