ACTU and business council want to revive ‘key principles’ of controversial enterprise bargaining deal dumped years ago

Council of Australia want to use this week’s jobs summit to revive the “key principles” of a controversial deal on enterprise bargaining that was dumped two years ago.

“The principles that Sally and I negotiated a couple of years ago are basically the ones that we should take forward. Don’t get rid of the better off overall test, make it better, make it about better off overall, not better off in every single circumstance,” Westacott told the ABC’s Insiders program.

McManus said the unions also supported making the system “simple and fair”, and could be improved in line with the original aims of the enterprise bargaining system. Westacott said the BCA would wait to see details of the proposal being put forward, but said the employer group had many concerns about the idea.

Westacott & McMannus pointing out that apprentices aren’t finishing their trades because of the low pay rate . This occurs because apprentices are staying at school until Year 12 , when before apprentices started when 15 or after completing year 10 and still living at home.

Poor old David Speers was totally lost as Jennifer Westacott and Sally McMannus agreed on nearly everything denying him any opportunity to adversarially put one against the other . Definitely hope for the nation , but thoroughly disappointing for Speers .
