TOKYO : Japan's finance ministry plans to increase staff involved in efforts towards issuing a central bank digital currency , a document obtained by Reuters showed on Tuesday.
The ministry will request funding for the staff increase in state budget requests for next fiscal year, the document showed. The move, which would be the second straight year of increase, underscores the growing attention Tokyo is giving to laying the groundwork in case Japan issues CBDC.
