Leanne Ellis, VP of development and traffic with the Rutland Park Community Association, said the nearby maintenance depot, formally called an “Operations Workplace Centre,” is known to have salt contamination.Brendan Miller/Postmedia Ellis said it took much calling and questioning before she obtained the environment report on that contamination from the province. She’s not happy that money from the sale of the park land will be used to remediate soil polluted by another city department.
“All of the land is on title as Richmond Green Regional Park, including the OWC site,” said Ellis. “Roads has contaminated regional park space, and Roads should find a budget to clean it up.”Article content
