Money Network, which the state audit found to have problems in running the Middle Class Tax Refund program, is being re-hired by the state governmnet.

The California government, which is paying Money Network $32 million to run its Employment Development Department program, says things will be different under the new contract.

“We should have an accountability piece in the contract that says they’re going to respond better than they did in the past. These are accountability measures aren’t rocket science,” he said. “Total fraud is hard to eliminate. But we should clearly do a more responsible job in reacting to the problem,” said Lackey.
