The roofer, who was not secured within the basket, was thrown from the basket and fell onto the roof of a parked car before falling to the pavement.

A Scots building firm has been hit with a £215,000 after a worker was thrown off a cherry picker when it was hit by a bus in Glasgow.

At about midday a double-decker bus struck the “knuckle” of the cherry picker, which was protruding over the roadway with the force of the collision lifting the machine onto its two rear wheels and caused its boom to hit a nearby lamppost. There were also no suitable measures in place to segregate the cherry picker from traffic effectively. Following the incident, the company took remedial and preventative action, overhauling its processes and policies.
