Consumers' preference for face-to-face interaction in healthcare could be why we're seeing low telehealth adoption in the US:

Further, consumers' interest in telehealth drops off in certain use cases: 62% of US consumers said they'd take up telehealth for ongoing assessment of a physical condition, but only said they'd forego in-person care for mental or behavioral health services, for example.

Identifying best use cases for telehealth, as well as the ideal demographic, will be critical for companies in the space looking to push through the consumer adoption wall and establish themselves as a foundational pillar of the US healthcare system. Walmart's new walk-in clinic is focusing on the right health services and demographics to help it capture those who prefer face-to-face care — but the retail giant isn't forgoing telehealth entirely: its first-ever standalone health clinic in the small community of Dallas, Georgia, expanding on earlier experiments with in-store retail clinics.
