Speaking with theat the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday, Bea Perez, Coca-Cola's senior vice-president for sustainability and public affairs, said that the company won't ditch these bottles as the consumer still wants to use them.
"Business won't be in business if we don't accommodate consumers," she said. "So as we change our bottling infrastructure, move into recycling and innovate, we also have to show the consumer what the opportunities are. They will change with us."is to have all of its packaging made from at least 50% recycled material by 2030 and to collect or recycle a bottle or can for each one it sells in that timeframe.
"Regardless of where it comes from, we want every package to have more than one life," the company's CEO James Quincey previously said in a statement to theBut it still has a long way to go. According to a 2019 report cited by the BBC, it was found to be the world's most polluting brand when it comes to plastic waste. The report was put together byTherefore, activists are calling for it to ditch plastics entirely rather than just commit to recycling them.
"Recent commitments by corporations like Coca-Cola, Nestlé, and PepsiCo to address the crisis unfortunately continue to rely on false solutions like replacing plastic with paper or bioplastics and relying more heavily on a broken global recycling system," Abigail Aguilar, Greenpeace Southeast Asia plastic campaign coordinator, said in aShe continued: "These strategies largely protect the outdated throwaway business model that caused the plastic pollution crisis, and will do...
Company that makes something for people for profit says that those people like the thing that they make, so they will continue to make that thing for those people.
Coca cola in plastic bottles when exposed to sun during shipments tastes weird though wish they used cans and bottles only instead 🙏🏻
They way they use 'customers' to fit and push they agenda...as a customer, I like the glass bottles better!!
😡😡😡🤬
This is beyond horrible BoycottCocaCola fuckcoke
Not this customer, bring back glass bottles
More likely Coke ignores what their customers wants and continues to use the absolute cheapest option to increase their already outrageous profits they earned while slowly giving the world diabetes.
They still want to use them because that's the only way they come. The 2 liter bottles are annoying, top is too small and hard to open and the bottom is not flat and won't stand up. Really, that statement is an excuse.
I actually prefer glass bottles which are recyclable CocaCola CocaColaCo
makes sense, plastic bottles are just as bad as the liquid inside so better stay away from both...
Actually, coca-cola is way more tasty in glass bottles and cans. If I had the option to buy, for instance, 2 liters cola without plastic bottles, I would definitely do that.
I'm one of them
They also want cocaine back in it but I don’t see y’all doing that CocaCola
Leaders need to lead.. or step (fall) away. The right thing to do isn’t always popular, at first. CocaCola you need to help protect the environment. Reduce or stop the use of plastics.
CocaCola Then they gotten get more involved the circular economy project!
What else would they put it in? Pretending is a viable alternative doesn't make it so. If want a closed loop system need relocate humanity to underground human reservations and Ban natural breeding.
NO WE DONT ! 3m tons of plastic waste a year, their profit is the planet's loss.
BOYCOTT CocaCola BoycottCocaCola
That's true actually
Fvck CocaCola! how about that?
If Coca-Cola make the change, consumers will adapt! Consumers want the product, not the plastic bottle
Betul jugaaa... 😁😁😁
We use it because we don’t have any other option You can replace it because you have option The only reason you are not replacing it because you don’t want to
