Colleges around the country have closed their campuses because of the coronavirus. That's putting stress on low-income students and their families.

"I'm going to need to help contribute to the family's earnings, which I'm also concerned is going to have an effect on my performance at school," Marks told Business Insider Weekly. "When I go back home, the amount of food that my mom's going to have to buy is going to increase by 50%," Marks said. "I got a call at work, which is very rare for him to actually call me at work," Betty told Business Insider Weekly. "We've always had a rule. Unless it's something serious, you don't bother me when I am at work."
