Chan Foong Hin says the state government should scrap the shorter hours for eateries as dine-ins are already not allowed. FMTNews ChanFoongHin

Business hours for restaurants and eateries were changed within an hour on Sunday, an MP said.

Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin said the rule changes were also confusing the people and making them lose confidence in the GRS government. “The situation had been so bad that a version of SOP had been overwritten by another ‘updated’ SOP released just 10 minutes apart,” he said, referring to changes in permitted business hours, from 9am-5pm and amended to 9am-6pm in less than an hour.Although well-intended, the change was unfair to the food and beverage industry, he said. The 9am starting time meant that most eateries would lose their peak breakfast crowd, as patrons would usually come between 6am and 9am.
