Louis and Susanne Cooper found a buyer last year for their 1927 home in the exclusive north-of-downtown enclave, but the deal dragged on without reaching a close. So, now, a year after the original listing, the couple has relisted the property for $3.5 million — the same as the 2021 asking price.

For that amount, a buyer would score four bedrooms and five and a half baths spread across nearly 8,700 square feet. More notably, the next owners will be just the third residents to inhabit the property in its nearly century-long history. The home was originally built for members of the Vaughan family, whose storied Vaughn Lumber Co. is now known as Alamo Forest Products. The Coopers purchased the dwelling in 1990 and conducted a 2002 remodel that included the addition of a pool.

The Vaughn family's connection to the lumber business is evident in the estate's milled archways and custom moldings as well as its fancy music room, gazebo and original wood floors. “It’s a pretty house, and inventory in Alamo Heights is low, Phillis Browning broker Judy J. Barnes said of the listing."It’s gonna sell."
