Intel lost another round in its ongoing patent battle with VLSI.

In the case decided Tuesday, the jury found that Intel had violated VLSI's patent on a method of speeding computer chips' ability to process data. Intel had argued that VLSI's technology isn't used in contemporary processors,The two companies are also fighting patent battles in California, Delaware and China, according to Bloomberg Law. Additionally, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is reviewing several of VLSI's patents as in the U.S.

The patent at issue in the case decided Tuesday previously belonged to NXP Semiconductors N.V. VLSI acquired the patent and 17 others for $3 million in 2018, according to Bloomberg Law. The decision comes as Intel is trying to reduce costs amid disappointing results.
