Anwar not considering dual role as finance minister

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says he is looking to reduce the size of the cabinet. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Kamal Ariffin, November 25, 2022.“We will look at all possibilities but at the moment I have not considered that,” he said.Anwar was finance minister for eight years from 1990 to 1998.

Meanwhile, after taking over the Prime Minister’s Office at Perdana Putra, Anwar said he is looking to recruit fewer ministers than the previous administration, while cutting cabinet salaries.The three largest component parties forming the unity government are Pakatan Harapan , Barisan Nasional , and Gabungan Parti Sarawak .

Anwar was earlier reported to have said the cabinet would be reduced to a maximum of 25 ministers, compared to 31 under the previous administration. – Bernama, November 25, 2022.
