India has banned a BBC documentary critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged role in deadly riots more than 20 years ago from being shown in the country, in a move critics decried as an assault on press freedom. A senior adviser for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said directions to block the documentary were issued using “emergency powers” available to the government under India’s information and technology rules.
” Speaking to reporters at a news conference Thursday, Bagchi said: “It makes us wonder about the purpose of this exercise and the agenda behind it and frankly we do not wish to dignify such efforts.” In response, the BBC said in a statement shared on social media that the documentary was “rigorously researched according to the highest editorial standards.
The European Union have banned several Russian TV channels, that is even more worse, where is talk on democracy, free press, freedom of expression, that should sink in!
Modi has transformed himself into the dictator of India He is deluded by his self importance and arrogance into thinking he is above everthing in regressing Indian democracy He has alluded being brought to book for masterminding the genocidal riots of 2002 in Gujrat
There goes the so called the biggest democracy on earth
CNN should broadcast it
Hey cnn. stop poking nose in other countries matter. Look at your country and do reporting.
POTUS , but you can't do anything about it because of you start doing something, then there will be no one left in the world to do business with. Right, eh?
The BBC are very questionable on truth these days. They might report on other countries but they stay quiet or actively gaslight on U.K. news about the current government.
