PETALING JAYA: A company director has been arrested for allegedly bribing officers of a security-related government agency to obtain a work contract worth RM2mil, says a source.

According to the source, the bribes worth more than RM40,000 were given in the form of allowances and international flight tickets."The bribes are believed to have been given to return the favour for helping the suspect's company obtain a technology-related contract worth about RM2mil.

"The same officers were also believed to have been involved in distributing work contracts to various companies between 2015 to 2020," the source added. The source said the suspect, who is in his late 40s, was brought before the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court on Tuesday morning with the presiding Magistrate approving the four-day remand until Feb 3.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission senior director Datuk Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed the arrest, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.
