Experts have issued a fresh warning about scams involving fake invoices, after a data leak affecting a leading Australian smoke alarm company left customer records exposed online for months.

He claims it held more than 762,000 documents, including many containing names, property addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. Mr Fowler - who has been notifying companies of data breaches for 10 years - said the response was"extremely unusual". But Smoke Alarm Solutions argues the type of information exposed was not likely to cause serious harm to its customers."There was no reportable data breach," the statement read."As a low-level breach, it is by definition, highly unlikely to result in serious harm to any individuals."

"The publicly accessible documents provided a comprehensive view of the company's transactions and company interactions," he wrote.
