Two Harrisburg city council members who voted against the mayor's recommendation for the company to oversee the rebuilding of the Broad Street Market are now reconsidering their decision.Council members voted 5-2 on May 14 to reject Alexander Building Construction Co. as the construction manager for the Brick Building, which was heavily damaged by a fire last summer. However, Crystal Davis and Ralph Rodriguez have since announced they will reverse course.
It comes with great consideration for the completely understandable and important concerns brought forward by my colleagues in the weeks leading up to the May 14 vote, and the days since. We will need to continue to work with Mayor Williams' administration to continue improving procurement procedures to ensure all companies who want to do buisiness with the City of Harrisburg have a fair and equitable shake. I have been assured these vital and hard conversations will continue.
