State and federal building ministers will meet on Thursday to discuss how to tackle the flammable cladding and defective apartment buildings in Australia's biggest cities.'A huge crisis': Building industry may grind to a halt over lack of cladding insurance

Building surveyors, who sign off on new building permits and occupancy certificates, will have trouble getting insurance coverage after July 1 because of the troublesome issue of flammable cladding. Industry insiders warn that means building approvals may grind to a halt. As the spotlight falls on Sydney's residential construction industry after the Mascot Towers scare, the already-cooling market means developers are putting a halt on construction.
