KEPALA BATAS: The famous Pasar Bisik fish market in Penaga, Kedah has been ordered to shut down by the state Health Department for a week following failure to follow the standard operation procedures during the conditional movement control order period.

"Temperature checks were not conducted on buyers who were coming into the compound of the fish market," he said during a press conference after the enforcement operation on Monday morning. He said despite numerous reminders and advice from representatives of the fishing associations and Malaysian Fisheries Development Board , the advice fell on deaf ears.

Mohd Wazir said the closure was done in accordance with the law, and they could only be open if the fish market adhered to all regulations and SOP imposed during the conditional MCO period.
