'A bad time to have a computer glitch': The stimulus bill text was delayed because of printer errors and internet issues

"Unfortunately, it's a bad time to have a computer glitch," Republican Sen. John Thune of South Dakota told reporters gathered on Capitol Hill.was eventually uploaded just before 2 p.m. on Monday, leaving lawmakers with little time to comb through it ahead of votes scheduled for the same afternoon.

Both Democratic and Republican leadership sent out advisories to members recommending a yes vote, with key provisions of the package listed in bullet points. Around the same time the bill text was uploaded, physical copies of the bill were shuttled through the Capitol once the printer issues were resolved.The main reason why the bill text ended up getting so large is because the stimulus bill was merged with what's known as the "omnibus" bill, which ensures the government is funded to avoid a shutdown. Lawmakers already passed stop gap measures to avoid the shutdown deadline over the weekend.
