Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has decried the nonpatronage of the nation’s premier printing and minting company,

popularly referred to as ‘’The MINT’’ by institutions, government agencies and private organizations.

A statement by the Director-General, Media to the Governor, Labaran Malumfashi, and made available to newsmen in Katsina, said Masari made the observation while inspecting facilities at the Abuja Headquarters of the company, accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Security, Printing and Minting Plc, Alhaji Abbas Umar Masanawa.

The Governor further expressed satisfaction with the “state-of-the-art equipment” at the factory which he said is capable of satisfying the printing needs of Nigerians and discourages the penchants to patronize foreign printing press. He said; “governments and institutions in Nigeria had no business patronizing foreign nations for their minting and printing needs for currency and security documents.

‘’With what is on ground by way of equipment and personnel, it is inconceivable that a better company could be found, even in foreign lands, that could do a better and cheaper job than the Nigerian MINT. “Given the equipment that the MINT has installed, I am absolutely confident that there is no job in its purview which this company would not do satisfactorily, I am certain about that.”
