Although companies are suspending their vaccine mandates, the law doesn't give workers fired by other companies for not vaccinating an automatic right to re-employment. | Fin24

Discovery is bucking the trend on Covid-19 vaccination mandates. While other companies have buckled under pressure and suspended their mandatory vaccination policies, the insurance giant says, given the ongoing risk of Covid-19 in South Africa and the proven continued effectiveness of vaccines in reducing severe Covid-19 complications and deaths, it believes that the policy continues to be warranted.

"Discovery's vaccination policy continues to play an important role in providing the safest possible workplace and environment for our employees, clients and business partners," said the company in a statement. The group said it was also keeping its vaccination policy in place for now because Covid-19 continued to be endemic in South Africa. This means the spread of the virus is ongoing, albeit at much lower rates. So, given its research which showed how vaccines protect people against severe diseases and reduce secondary transmission and deaths, it is better to keep its guard up because there's still significant uncertainty about future variants and waves.

Fin24 They are legally liable to backpay workers, and re-employ them..workers who were forced to vaccinate must sue the company for violating rights of choice to medical care, also bodily integrity. Vaccine did not protect any one from contracting the virus, sue these companies

Fin24 There may not be a law confirming such however I have a feeling that one is coming. A company deciding on your bodily integrity or choice will be debated. I saw this as no different to a pimp (company) soliciting an employee to prostitution.

Fin24 Those companies should listen to this.

Fin24 Class action!

Fin24 That’s communist law, that’s why 🧨💋😡

Fin24 Sue the company
