St. Johns County recently partnered with England-Thims & Miller Inc. on a project to reduce commute time for drivers, as well as save money associated with fuel costs and travel time.
According to the St. Johns public works department, the area was chosen due to noticeable delays in traffic, as well as individuals calling in with complaints. After the retiming was completed though, the office is reportedly getting calls from the public noting better traffic flow in the corridor. All of this data collection and retiming of traffic lights at individual intersections work toward a few main goals: save time, and ultimately money, for drivers.
