Survey: Women see progress in leadership roles but gaps on pay

About one-third of women say the percentage of women in leadership positions at their companies has increased over the past three years, but much room for progress remains when it comes to creating career development opportunities.10th annual Mentoring Monday

But, despite that perceived progress at the top, 46% of women said their company does not have any programs in place to develop the careers of women within the organization — suggesting change may be necessary to continue developing a pipeline of leadership talent for the future. "Businesses must ensure every employee not only feels like they have a career path within the organization, but also the capabilities to navigate constant change," said Gayle Lantz, founder of WorkMatters Inc."As organizations learn to anticipate change and reinvent, people can do the same. This opens new exciting career pathing opportunities that are not necessarily linear.", including how to register for the local event in your market.

When asked to identify the top-of-mind concerns for women in the workplace today, pay equity was one of the top choices, along with respect, equality, child care, work-life balance, career advancement, compensation and opportunity.
