Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana is set to make an announcement about the transfer of Eskom’s about 400 billion rand debt when he delivers his budget speech on Wednesday. Finances have weighed on the company that’s had difficulty maintaining funds to buy diesel.
Eskom, which supplies most of South Africa’s power from coal-fired plants, has been implementing rolling blackouts since 2008 because it can’t meet demand. Less than half of the utility’s generation capacity is available, two newly built coal-fired plants have also proven unreliable and other defective generating units have had to be taken off-line for repairs. The government has declared a state of disaster due to its energy crisis. In times of uncertainty you need journalism you can trust.

We really deserve these crooks of the ANC if we vote for them again in 2024. They have to give someone else a chance to govern. The ANC has failed dismally!!
They will never announce it cause they promised us that we will never get that far .. so it happens that they are now pushed to deliver stage 7 next it's 8
Cut or there was not enough generation due to incompetent leadership?
Running my generator 10 hours a day seems pretty close to total shutdown?
7000 MW technically equates to stage 8 friends
Thanks Andre. Some of us can see through the noise. Cowardly acts to hide incompetence
You mean Stage 8
Y'all should just stop providing electricity better without it
Wow.
Vote them OUT IN 2024
Why is this article not famously marked as 'for subscribers' only.
This is ridiculous
And they will still vote for these corrupt officials and we still be suffering
Africans are useless. Can't be argued otherwise. They are all totally incompetent and have criminality in their genes.

And this South Africa is why we need new government. These pensioners at MYANC have no idea how to fix this. Must we sit in total darkness before we get angry enough to do something about this mediocrity?
And there will be people who still vote for ANC
Min of electricity handing out candles 🤬🤬🤬
Does Eskom have no solutions or what😂?
When casting your vote remember these dark days. We can’t let this continue.. where is the recovery plan to get us back to normality.

dominatrixsa Do you know oodez? You should watch some of his videos on YouTube, very informative :
2 double load sheds and a single = 11.5 hrs OFF per day during the day … not counting the OFFs during the night. Stage 12 to 16 for some unlucky buggers when Eishkom uses their block as an emergency OFF switch!!!£££¥¥¥§§§|
HOly shit ,nightmare has come ,and there is still no solution for too end ,this in 3 years time , this is what happened, when you putted Eskom in Anc hand, in last 27 years
Please let us not be fooled by the anc. We should take them to Hake for committing genocide. Electricity and water are basic necessity. Fok anc.
So ANDRE wasn't incompetent after all It was just years and years of 'black excellence '
VoetsekANC
Does the ministers esperance load shedding? No, so why will they care? 2024 ANC voters will vote again for these gangsters.
They are the biggest fraud in world history, then I believe eskom was awarded as news maker of 2023. What a joke! 🤡
We have an opportunity next year during election to get other people to govern, otherwise we deserve all this !!!!!

Sikonathi Matshantsha must resign for the sake of his already tattered dignity because of Eskom
It’s hardly news that Eskom and the ANC are being dishonest and backhanded. They have no decency, honesty or morals and treat us all with utter contempt. This news should surprise nobody but infuriate us all. We deserve better.
Aiy and see what you done
