The Hang Seng Index HSI, -2.33% of Hong Kong companies weakened 2.3% to 17,813.45, while the Nikkei 225 Index NIK, -0.55% of Japanese companies dropped 0.5% to 32,315.99.

Shares of motor vehicle dealing firm Zhongsheng Group Holdings 881, -6.28% and jewelry retailing company Chow Tai Fook Jewellery 1929, -5.54% fell 6.3% and 5.5%, respectively. Of the Nikkei 225 Index constituents, pharmaceuticals company Sumitomo Pharma 4506, -6.33% saw the largest decrease Friday, as shares dropped 6.3%
