The cheapest freestanding home on the market in NSW is selling from $49,000 — but there’s a catch. Located in Bourke, in NSW’s northwest, the home is referred to as “cheap as chips” in the online listing. The average house price in Sydney was $1,595,310 in December last year, according to Domain’s House Price Report. The cheap home requires significant renovation. “This solid bones house has better days but can still be revived to its golden age,” the listing reads.
Regional hidden gems Similar homes have hit the market recently in other states, including one home in South Australia’s outback on offer for just $50,000. The Coober Pedy home includes air-conditioning, built in wardrobes and is located near the town’s main street — but it requires major repairs. Real estate agency, Andrews Property Regional SA, said the previous tenant was paying $180 per week to stay in the home.
