Some security officers in Limpopo have raised concerns about various challenges that they face on a daily basis. They are complaining about working conditions, and violations of the labour laws by some employers.The Sekhukhune Security Crisis and Demands Forum which represents over 500 security officers, in Sekhukhune district has raised several challenges faced by the security officers.The forum says security companies are disregarding labour laws and exploiting their employees.
Jackson Nkgudi another security officer adds: “Our job is dangerous and our lives are always at stake. Most of the time, when police officers are called to the crime scene, they usually find us after we have already arrested the criminals. We also protect people’s lives against criminals and we are confronted by criminals on a daily basis. Most officers are not alive today, their wives are widows, and their children are fatherless because they died on duty.
