South African markets closed in the green on Friday, boosted by gains in financial and retail sector stocks. Insurance companies, Old Mutual, Discovery and Sanlam jumped 7.5%, 5.8% and 3.8%, respectively.
Retailers, Mr Price, Pick ‘n Pay Stores, Foschini Group and Shoprite Holdings advanced 6.4%, 6.1%, 4.9% and 4.5%, respectively.
