New research detailing how the Inflation Reduction Act will improve the health and financial well-being

HHS also releases new research detailing how the Inflation Reduction Act will improve the health and financial well-being of people with Medicare who live in rural areas.

“CMS is dedicated to improving access to some of the most expensive drugs for people with Medicare while encouraging market competition and fostering innovation through this first of its kind negotiation process,” said CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure. “Receiving counteroffers marks another negotiation milestone met in the continued implementation of the landmark Inflation Reduction Act, which is already lowering drug prices for people with Medicare.

Also today, HHS’s Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation released a fact sheet detailing the projected impact of the Inflation Reduction Act on lowering drug costs for the more than eight million Medicare Part D enrollees who live in rural areas. Highlights from the research include:

About 289,000 rural enrollees are projected to save $1,000 or more in 2025 thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act’s new caps on out-of-pocket costs and other drug related provisions.About 20 percent of Medicare enrollees using NovoLog/Fiasp , reside in rural areas, which is a higher proportion compared to the Medicare Part D population.
