He doesn’t always tell them initially that he and his brother Harley created the landmark business in the late 1980s and have run it ever since.
“Harley has always made sure that we’ve tried to accommodate the customer in every way we can,” George said. They did and soon people were frequenting their business, which is where the Berwick Used Car Centre is now located. The brothers had just built the new grocery store, where Foodland is now located, and the old space was vacant, so the bargain shop moved into there.Along the way, they bought the Berwick Bakery building and used it for storage before deciding to move the bargain shop there in 1994.“It’s certainly an important part of the commercial section of Berwick,” he said. “It brings a lot of people to town.
