Recent utterances by DA Federal Council Chairperson Helen Zille have set tongues wagging after she said that the ANC and DA are in a grand coalition and not a Government of National Unity .Meanwhile, the EFF has indicated in a statement saying it feels vindicated by Zille’ remarks. It says that Zille’s comments confirm that the real negotiations for the GNU took place between the DA and President Cyril Ramaphosa.
“I have heard yesterday, comments by Helen Zille saying this thing, what, what, she must just chill. We are working very nicely together. There is no problem, we work very nicely with DA, IFP, we are one. The GNU is going to last for five years.” “These kinds of remarks, by Helen Zille, has a potential to create unnecessary instability in the GNU and uncertainty and I think it’s important that the GNU should develop a proper communication framework so that the activities of the GNU should be communicated by specific people.
“The GNU has a potential to last if there is a constant cooperation amongst the different political parties that are there and also very importantly when there is respect and no hidden agendas. What would destroy it would be political parties that would be able to go out and speak in different tongues.”
